MANNEQUINS :)

so i had this crazy idea for a blog picture that would use little mini-mannequins ! The pictures turned out better than i expected ! I used a 50D camera with a 17-50 lens. I used off camera flash with one light stand and a soft-umbrella. I mainly decided to take this picture so i could get more practice with capturing still-life  ! Im a very excited with my final product. My settings were ISO 100 35mm f/3.2, 1/250 sec.

Self-Portrait Practice

I was TOTALLY lost as to what I was going to do for my self-portrait six-weeks project. So today in class I decided to at least experiment as to how I was going to set up my strobes and the my idea would follow. My plan was successful. I used two light stands, a soft box umbrella on one and flash only on the second one. I also used the clicker button that connected to the camera so i could take the picture totally on my own without assistance. Both light stands were extended to about 5 and a half feet because thats the desired view point I wanted for my picture. The light stand with the umbrella was set to the left of the camera literally touching it side by side in order to get the main light to totally light me. I used Alex to pose as myself just so I could see what it would look like. From time to time I took Alex's place in order to make sure that the light settings still were appropriate for me considering that I will be the subject in the final picture and also considering that me and Alex are two different skin tones. In this picture alex is wrapped in black tool and it is also intertwined between her fingers.  In my final photo I will be posed almost exactly the same only that I will use brown tool so it will kind of look like and extension of my skin. My settings were : flash 1(with soft box umbrella)-1/4 power; rim light flash-1/16 power; shutter speed 1/250 sec, ISO 100, aperture varied between 7.1-5.6.

Robert Hoover

Today was the first time I took a light stand with me on a headshot assignment. BUT considering the weather conditions outside and where the person who assigned the assignment the light stand wasn't needed. I took the picture in the courtyard at school and tried to go by the sunny 16 rule, but I decided to get my subject out of direct sunlight and into a more shaded area. My settings were ISO 125 70mm f/4.0 1/160sec.

Workshop

Room 63 is the workshop class. A yearbook assignment  assigned me to shoot workshop students at work. Unfortunately, the workshop teacher informed me that they wouldn't be doing much work today. So I captured a few shots of the students doing simple odds and ends jobs. At first my pictures were turning out to be really yellow-ish so i adjusted my AWB and ISO. My settings were ISO 320 37mm, f/4.0 @ 1/60sec.

Make-Up BLog for Oct. 27th

Alex is trying out for the cheerleading team at U of A and she needed head shots for her portfolio. She asked me to take them for her. I used a reflector to give her some warmth on her skin and used the "feminine" pose technique. My settings were set by using the sunny 16 rule.

SIX weeks project

Second attempt of my creeper project was a success !!! I used a snooted strobe for my subject who posed as my creeper and i used  soft box umbrella to light my "victim". It took a while to get my creeper posed perfectly in order to get my desired shadow but it all worked out. My camera settings were ISO 100, f/5.6,@ 1/320 sec.
