Today was the first time I took a light stand with me on a headshot assignment. BUT considering the weather conditions outside and where the person who assigned the assignment the light stand wasn't needed. I took the picture in the courtyard at school and tried to go by the sunny 16 rule, but I decided to get my subject out of direct sunlight and into a more shaded area. My settings were ISO 125 70mm f/4.0 1/160sec.
